NICU Expansion - 2022

Heywood Development partnered once again with MVH to support the hospital’s continued growth and commitment to providing exceptional care for its youngest patients.

Serving as owner’s representative, we guided the renovation and expansion of the existing two-bed NICU and adjacent recovery rooms into a modern fourteen-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit designed to support higher levels of patient acuity.

From early programming through construction, our team worked closely with hospital leadership, clinical staff, and the design-build team to ensure that the new space met the hospital’s operational needs, clinical standards, and regulatory requirements. We carefully coordinated design and construction activities to minimize disruption to surrounding departments and ongoing patient care.

The expanded NICU incorporates advanced medical systems, family-centered patient rooms, and upgraded support spaces that enhance both functionality and comfort. Despite the project’s technical complexity and spatial constraints, the team successfully delivered the new unit on schedule and within budget.

The completed facility now provides MVH with a state-of-the-art environment that enables staff to deliver specialized care to more infants and families, reinforcing the hospital’s mission to serve the community with excellence and compassion.
