About the project
As the owner’s representative, Heywood Development guided the creation ofthe new Idaho Falls Community Hospital from concept through occupancy.Collaborating closely with the hospital’s exceptional management team, usergroups, and a skilled design-build team, we helped define the project’s designand budget—securing both board approval and final authorization from thebuilding’s owner, a real estate investment trust (REIT).
Throughout the design and construction phases, we worked hand in hand withthe design-build team to ensure the owner’s and operator’s objectives wereachieved while maintaining the project schedule and budget. Each projectpresents unique challenges that require daily coordination and creative problem-solving. We take pride in finding solutions that support our clients,add value, and strengthen collaboration with our project partners.
The resulting 200,000+ sq ft facility features an emergency department,intensive care unit, 88 private patient rooms, three operating rooms, and adedicated parking garage. Midway through construction, an owner-directed changerequired a major floor plan redesign. Through close coordination with thegeneral contractor, we mitigated potential delays, enabling the hospital toopen on schedule and complete the project within budget.
Today, Idaho Falls Community Hospital provides the region with expandedaccess to acute care services and modern inpatient facilities. The projectenhances patient choice, supports high-quality care, and stands as a testamentto the power of collaboration in delivering complex healthcare developments.
